Psychosocial Recovery Coaching (PRC)

At Heart Worx, Recovery Coaching is about building a support network that helps you feel supported in everyday life - not about fixing or rushing you. We work with you to make sure your NDIS plan makes sense in practice and feels connected to your real goals.

What Recovery Means Here

Recovery isn’t a neat, linear path. It can be hard, hopeful, messy, and meaningful - all at once. For us, recovery doesn’t mean being “cured.” It means finding your best sense of wellbeing, safety, and independence - whatever that looks like for you.

The NDIA defines recovery as “achieving an optimal state of personal, social and emotional well-being, as defined by each individual, whilst living with or recovering from a mental health condition.”

We take that seriously - and we honour the fact that the definition is yours to shape.

That could mean:

  • Building a stronger daily rhythm
  • Feeling more confident using supports
  • Having people around you who understand and respect you
  • Reaching for goals at your own pace

How We Work With You

Grounded Planning

At intake, we start with a Support & Recovery Plan - a clear map that holds your goals, your words, and your pace. This plan can be updated as life shifts.

Connection First

We spend time getting to know what feels safe and what doesn’t. Support works best when you feel seen and heard.

Team Approach

We coordinate with your other providers and services so you don’t have to hold everything alone.

Practical Progress

Together, we notice what’s working, what’s not, and what changes might help.

Our Recovery Frameworks

We draw on lived experience and practice-based approaches, keeping things simple and human:

Lived expertise.

Using personal insight with clear boundaries and professionalism.

Trauma-aware care.

Respecting your nervous system limits and signals of safety.

Neuro-affirming practice.

Valuing different ways of thinking, communicating, and being.

Hope in action.

Holding that wellbeing is possible in your own way and time.

All of our materials and planning are built on the foundations of basic psychoeducation principles and teachings. That means the strategies we use aren’t just heart-backed - they’re also grounded in evidence, giving you support that is safe, credible, and informed.

All of our planning and tools are built on the foundations of psychoeducation - so the support you receive is both heart-backed and evidence-backed.

In Real Life, That Means:

  • Celebrating small steps as real progress
  • Matching you with a worker whose style feels safe and reliable
  • Using reflective supervision to back workers so they can back you
  • Keeping reviews grounded in your experience, not just paperwork

Why It Matters

Recovery coaching isn’t about fixing. It’s about having someone alongside you in ways that feel real, doable, and centred on your life - not just the system.

PRC is recognised by the NDIS as a way to strengthen recovery, connection, and independence. It’s not about doing more paperwork - it’s about giving you someone in your corner who helps manage the process and keeps your goals central.
